Fifty Shades Delusional: Chapter Nineteen
Nov. 2nd, 2012 11:49 pmAw yeah!
We begin with Ana sitting on the couch in Grey's living room, which is full of Grey's family, with the addition of Taylor, Ethan, Kate, herself and Jose. She's shocked and stunned by the news, and we actually get a pretty realistic view of someone who's just been told that a loved one is missing- she goes from fondly reminiscing and thinking about the stuff she'd like to do with him (hint: it's sex) to wondering where the fuck he is and feeling empty. I'm not too sympathetic on the last count.
And hang on...
The fact is, he's missing. He's been missing for eight hours. No sign, no word from him. The search has been called off- this much I do know. It's just too dark.
Um, what? That's possibly the most stupid excuse I've ever heard- that's what floodlights and spotlights are for! The way I understand it, searches get called off if A, it's too dangerous, B, there's really no point in continuing since the chance of the person being alive is slimmer than Kim Kardashian's brain, or C, the person has been found or they have an idea of where they are. Sure, looking for someone in the dark is dangerous, but I repeat: we have lights for that. It should not be hard to look for someone when you have huge lights to help you. Besides, you're looking for a helicopter, and they're marginally easier to see than a single person.
The next couple of pages is Ana remembering her times with Grey and praying that he'll come back. And then he does.
Everyone's naturally overjoyed to see him alive and well, and Grey has no idea what the hell's going on until he finds out that he was reported missing and they all thought that he was dead. Ana hopes that all these people showing him unconditional love will make him realise that he really isn't a horrible person. Aw. Grey and Jose have a short conversation where they both try to be civil while barely holding back their urge to measure their dicks, and then Grey explains what happened: he was flying to WSU because of a funding problem, and on the way back, he and his second-in-command took a detour to see Mount St. Helens. Both engines caught fire, and while they managed to land, they didn't land anywhere near a road, so a large chunk of their being-lost time was spent in getting to somewhere near civilisation. From there, they MacGuyvered their way back.
Afterwards, everyone starts clearing out so Grey can clean himself up and get some freaking sleep. Jose and Ana have a short chat where it's re-established that he's still into her, and then she and Grey talk. Before they obviously go and have sex, she gets him to open the birthday present she gave him a couple of chapters ago. It's a keyring with a pixel view of the Seattle skyline- and on the reverse is the word 'yes'. So, yeah, she'll marry him.
That was Chapter Nineteen. Short chapter, huh.
