Hiya, everyone! I missed yesterday's chapter, so you're getting two today!

Ana wakes up to a 'Christian Grey wake-up-call'- i.e., his boner against her arse. Classy. They have early morning sex, and then have breakfast. Grey suggests going clothes shopping, which Ana likes the sound of. Ana's wondering what will happen at SIP since Jack left. They both agree that someone else will be taken on. Ana hopes it's a woman, so Grey won't instantly object to going on work trips with her. Um. Lesbians and bisexuals, bitches? Fuck you, James.

Ana and Grey take her new car for a ride. Everything goes well, but Ana starts freaking out a little about work, wondering if everyone will know about Grey's involvement, or the exact details, and if she'll still have a job. Grey reminds her that they're seeing Dr Flynn that night. Grey asks her if she's sure that it's a good idea, and Ana tells him that she wants to ask Flynn questions about Grey so she can get an outsider's opinion. Fair enough. She reassures him that she's not leaving, and gets into work.

Elizabeth meets her and tells her that Jack's left, and asks Ana to temporarily take over his job for the time being. Ana's shocked, given that she's only been there for a week, but Elizabeth says that Jack really praised her efforts, and everyone thinks that she'll be able to take on the job, at least for a while. Ana's too dazed to do more than accept. However, she has a meeting to go to at the same time as her lunch with Mia, so she begs Ethan (*cough*Jasper*cough*) for a favour and sends him out to lunch with Mia instead. And because they're actually Jasper and Alice, they fall in love. OK, they seemed to be on the way there at least.

After work, Ana gives Grey a birthday present. He's not allowed to open it until Saturday. She and Grey go to see Dr Flynn. After telling him about the NDA, which Flynn didn't know about, Ana gets Grey to leave so she can speak to Flynn privately, and then tells him her problem. Flynn tells her that Grey has found himself in a position where his coping methods are now ineffective, so he had to confront his demons and rethink his methods- and Ana made him do so. Good way to start.

Flynn tells her that Grey's therapy is, in essence, helping him get to where he wants to be: Grey sets a goal and they work him through it. He's still affected- his phobia of being touched and his nightmares, which the book incorrectly calls night terrors- but he's getting better. Flynn wins me over with the next line:

"Of course, there's such a thing as sexual sadism, but it's not a disease; it's a lifestyle choice. And if it's practiced in a safe, sane relationship between consenting adults, it's a non-issue."

THANK YOU! Finally, someone who isn't a douchebag!

Basically, he tells Ana that Grey's coping methods- i.e., hardcore BDSM- have been matched up against his present goal- i.e., a loving relationship with Ana, who isn't into hardcore BDSM- and the coping methods have lost. Grey has set them aside as no longer needed, and is now working towards that loving relationship. He tells her that Grey is emotionally an adolescent, having bypassed his teen years entirely, and his emotional world is trying to catch up. All she needs to do is keep doing what she's doing, because she's good for Grey.

Ana admits that she thinks that if Grey wasn't broken, he wouldn't want her. Flynn is very surprised, because it's a statement that's quite close to Grey's high levels of self-loathing. He asks Ana why she doesn't consider herself to be attractive, but Grey interrupts before she can answer. They end the session, with Grey asking about Leila and being told that she's all right, and then they go out to celebrate Ana's promotion.

Ana starts out driving, but Grey keeps being an annoying backseat driver, so she pulls over and makes him drive. They talk about therapy and what Flynn says, and then Ana asks where they're going. It's a surprise, Grey says, and the chapter ends.

That was Chapter Seventeen. Next up, a bunny!
