Fifty Shades Delusional: Chapter Eight
Oct. 1st, 2012 08:50 pmHey again, everyone! I got curious, and found while that FSoG has 26 chapters, FSD has 22- but it's actually a bit longer. Interesting.
Anyway, here's chapter eight!
Ana has to wait outside as Grey, Taylor and co search for Leila (if she's there). Ana's hysterical with fear for Grey, and as she paces around, she notices that he's got a bunch of paintings of the Madonna and Child, for some reason. Interesting- while Grey did say that he went to Sunday School, we got no real indication that he's still a practicing member of his religion. Anyway, Grey finally emerges to confirm that Leila's not there. Neither of them has a clue why she'd be there, and when Ana asks if he's going to get the police involves, Grey says no because Leila needs help.
OK: This is a bad idea. It may work for Grey, given that he can replace a car, get good psychiatric help for Leila and has his security team on hand, but in the real world, where there's a low probability of dating a billionaire- NO. Get the police involved, because trying to help a mentally deranged stalker with a gun will not end well, in all probability. Seriously, don't. This is one of those situations where the canon makes it seem good when it's actually terrible- and I expect nothing less from an AU of Twilight.
Ana gives him the message Elena gave her. Grey dismisses it, and tells her to sleep. Ana goes to bed and wakes up at 2 AM. She sees a shadow at the end of her bed that looks like a woman dressed in black, but when she turns the light on, there's nothing there. She's unsure whether she dreamed it, imagined it, or whatever, but Grey isn't there, so she heads off to find him.
She finds Grey in his study, on the phone to Elena. He tells Elena harshly to leave Ana alone, and Ana walks in after he ends the call. Grey gets all nice again and talks about how scared he was and how much Ana means to him. Ana convinces him to fuck her, but when they walk into the bedroom, the balcony door's open. Neither of them opened it, and it was closed when Ana woke up. Ana realises that she didn't imagine the shadow- it was Leila. Oh, shit. Grey flips out and calls Taylor, telling him that he and Ana are going somewhere where Leila can't find them- though not his parents' place, because he doesn't want to take the problem to their doorstep.
Ana asks if Leila's that big a risk. Grey reminds her that she may have a gun, and Ana points out that Leila was standing at the end of her bed, so if she wanted to shoot Ana, she had all that time to do it. Grey refuses to take the risk (good!) and in the ensuing conversation, Ana reveals that she can shoot, too (remember that Ray was in the army?). Heh, I actually kinda like that, even though the chances of Ana so much as picking up a gun in the next two books are like zero.
They take Grey's car. Ana wonders how Leila even knew which car belonged to her, and Grey tells her that he buys the same car for all his submissives, because it's a good model and quite safe. Oh. In the ensuing conversation, which is mainly fluffy bullshit, we find out that Mia was also adopted. We're not told if Elliot was as well, but it's pretty interesting.
They get to the hotel, get up to their suite and talk a bit, and then- of course- they fuck. And they fuck some more. And they sleep. And then the doctor arrives.
Dr Greene matter-of-factly tells Ana that she could be pregnant, since she stopped taking the pill. Ana has a major freak out- and that I can understand- and then takes a pregnancy test. The end result is a negative. Dr Greene gives Ana a shot, and Ana tries to recover from the shock.
Grey is kinda worried, and when Ana tells him what happened, he's also shocked. Ana's kind of bitchy, mainly from the shock and the relief, and then... ugh.
"Ana, I'm not used to this," he murmurs. "My natural inclination is to beat it out of you, but I seriously doubt you want that."
*golf claps* Congratulations, Captain fucking Obvious! You've done it again! Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? Your first response to nearly everything is to get out your cane! The FUCK?
Anyway, they take a shower together and she washes off what's left of the lipstick. Ana starts crying when Grey flinches away from her, because he's so damaged and hurt and it's sad. Ana tells him she loves him, and in the ensuing conversation, we find that Grey has some serious self-hatred, because he views himself as a husk of a man without a heart. He admits that he loves her, and the chapter ends.
That was Chapter Eight. Ooh, the angst.
