Fifty Shades Delusional: Chapter Seven
Sep. 29th, 2012 03:03 pmO hai! Time for Chapter Seven!
(I actually realised as I was doing the last post that I nearly did two chapters in one post. Oops.)
Grey's both furious and confused after Ana wins the auction, and Ana admits that A, all the wine at dinner has gone to her head, and B, she kinda wants his offer of a punishment spanking.
The First Dance Auction begins, and this is the bit that really pissed me off- basically, twelve women offer to auction off their first dances. I guess I'm OK with the premise, but with the MC acting like he's in a slave market, the whole thing annoys the living fuck out of me. Grey bids against Doctor Flynn for Ana's first dance, and then he takes her to his childhood room (which for some reason appears to have been left untouched since he left) and fucks her.
(Also, he appears to be very skilled in kickboxing, and we also learned earlier that he used to get into fights at school.)
There's also something that I think might be relevant later (though I'm not sure, so I'll put it in just in case (pun not intended))- Grey's bulletin board has concert tickets, photos of him and his family, and a black and white photo of a young woman. She looks familiar, but Ana can't place her- and no, she's not Mrs Robinson. When Ana asks about her, Grey says that she's 'no one of consequence' and that her photo being there was an 'oversight on his part'. Interesting.
They go out and have their dance. Dr Flynn cuts in afterwards and he and Ana have a little chat about nothing in particular. Ana goes to get her bag, and then Elena accosts her. She basically says that she can see that Grey is in love with Ana, and if Ana ever hurts him again, Elena will cut her.
Ana finds this as hilarious as I do, and finds her spine. She tells Elena that their relationship has nothing to do with her, and should Elena come looking for revenge if Ana leaves Grey, Ana will cut her back for fucking up teenage Grey. *applauds*
It turns out that Grey had no idea that Elena was there, because she said she wasn't going to attend. Grey does his best to assure Ana that he and Elena are just friends and that their romantic history is exactly that (history), but Ana's not convinced.
Carrick shows up and asks Ana to dance. He thanks her for her contribution, and she (thinking he's asking if she can actually afford it) says that she's delighted to contribute to such a worthy cause, and it's money that she doesn't really need. She takes the opportunity to find out a little more about Grey, and comments that Grey told her a bit about his past, so it's a cause she wants to support. Carrick tells her that Grace was the doctor on duty when Grey was first taken to hospital. He was skin and bones, dehydrated, and he didn't talk for two years- ultimately, it was piano-playing and Mia that brought him out of his shell. Damn, James is actually good with this traumatic background shit. I'm actually feeling sorry for Grey.
Carrick admits that he and Grace were worried that Grey would never end up with anyone, being a loner, and asks Ana to keep making him happy, because he wants to see his son happy. Aw.
Afterwards, Grey takes Ana down to watch a fireworks display, and they're told that the charity event somehow raised nearly two million dollars. There has to have been some offstage stuff, otherwise how the hell did they earn that much? Maybe it was like fifty grand for a ticket...
Anyway, Mia tries to get them to stay longer, but Grey insists that they leave. They say goodbye to Grace and Carrick, and then Grey reveals that Dr Greene will be returning to get Ana's contraception sorted out. Ana's angry that he didn't ask her, and then... ugh.
"It's my body," I mutter, annoyed that he didn't ask me.
"It's mine, too," he whispers.
NO! NO! NO! NO IT IS NOT! YOU DO NOT GET THE RIGHT TO DECIDE ANYTHING ABOUT HER BODY! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN ASK HER! FUCK YOU, GREY! FUCK YOU SO MUCH!
*bursts into flames spontaneously*
Anyway, now that I've calmed down a bit, Grey is given an envelope from a security guard. It's for Ana, and it turns out to be a message from Elena. She says that while she might have misjudged Ana, Ana definitely misjudged her. Ana should call her if she wants to fill in the blanks, maybe over lunch. She approves of their relationship, and she wants to help Ana. Oh, and she signs it 'Mrs Robinson'. I honestly don't know what to think, here- I kinda like Elena a bit, mainly because I often sympathise with characters who are relentlessly hated, but then again, she is an A-grade bitch...
They get home, but they're stopped by Sawyer, the security guy, who tells them that someone slashed Ana's tires and threw paint over her car. Taylor's worried that the perp could be in the apartment, so they have to wait. Grey decides to just randomly walk in, and Ana's left outside, terrified.
That was Chapter Seven. God dammit.
