Hey again! Welcome back to Fifty Shades Delusional! Warning: this one contains discussion of child abuse and suicide.

As I said earlier, there will be a chapter every day this week (including the weekend) so be prepared as we delve into this heap of dreck, mmmkay?

Grey pulls Ana into a restaurant and orders the same meal for them both. Ana gets pissed off because he didn't give her a chance to choose her own food, and tells him to stop treating her like a kid. Grey points out that she's acting like one- namely, when she played on Jose's feelings to make Grey jealous. Fair point- that really was bitchy, and honestly, I can almost take Grey's side. Almost, because he's being a dick again:

"Would you like to choose the wine?" he asks, raising his eyebrows at me expectantly, arrogance personified. He knows I know nothing about wine.

Wow, Grey, way to be an arsehole. Give her a choice in a field she knows nothing about so she'll be forced to hand it back over to you. Christ, I hate this guy.

Ana points out that the intended discussion won't go well if they're both incredibly pissed off at each other, and Grey apologises. He also admits that he's kind of nervous, because the last time they had a conversation, she left him, and he's told her that he wants her back, and she's said nothing. Fair enough, but Grey should really try to keep his emotions under control- he knows that Ana can be very contrary and stubborn, and pissing her off will just make things even worse.

Ana admits that she missed him, but nothing has changed and she can't be who he wants her to be. Grey says that she's already who he wants her to be, and when Ana says that she's not, Grey says that they both behaved stupidly and asks her a very relevant question: why didn't she use the safe word?

*applauds* Consistency, everybody!

Oh, James? 'Safe-word' is not a verb. Grey should ask her 'why didn't you use the safe-word?' not 'why didn't you safe-word?'.

Ana admits that she forgot, because she was overwhelmed by the pain and trying to handle it.

Oh, yeah, and it was SIX FUCKING AM! YOU DON'T DO IMPORTANT SHIT AT 6 FUCKING AM!

Anyway, Grey goes absolutely berserk, asking how he can trust her. Hold it!

I get that he's worried about harming her, but dude: she's a new sub, she's inexperienced, and it was a one-time thing. Maybe, I don't know, ASK HER when you're fucking her if she's OK. YOU are supposed to make sure that she's OK.

Ana apologises for not using the safe word. Grey, like Ana, feels like shit.

"You said you'd never leave, yet the going gets tough and you're out the door."
"When did I say I'd never leave?"

"In your sleep. It was the most comforting thing I'd heard in so long, Anastasia. It made me relax."

OK. Here's the thing: she said it in her sleep. Not when she was awake. She could have been saying that to her mother in her dream, or to her pet dog, or to Kate. Since Ana was asleep, we don't have any details- for all I know, she did say 'Christian, I'll never leave you', but here's the thing: A PROMISE GIVEN WHEN YOU'RE ASLEEP IS NOT A PROMISE! What kind of fucking idiot takes sleep talking seriously?

Grey asks if Ana still loves him. She does. The food comes, and while Ana is hungry, the current situation makes her stomach feel weird, so she's not particularly inclined to eat- until Grey threatens her with a punishment spanking right there. Dick.

Ana eats half the food and can't eat any more. That at least makes sense- after not eating for a long while, or having a very reduced diet, eating A, too much, B, densely-flavoured food, or C, anything spicy or hot will probably make the eater throw up, so it's really not a good idea to eat too much.

Grey pulls her outside so Taylor can drive them back. Ana points out how short Grey is with people, and Grey says that he just gets to the point. Dude, I'm brusque, but I say please and thank you. You should fucking know better.

Anyway, Grey now has a new proposition for Ana, which he gives her in the car (Taylor's listening to his iPod and can't hear them). He starts by asking her if she'd just want a vanilla relationship with nothing kinky in it. Ana admits that she likes some kinky stuff, and Grey asks her what she doesn't like. First up is the threat of cruel and unusual punishment, which gets translated to 'no whips, canes, or belts'. Second is Grey's joy in inflicting pain on her, especially since the rules are so random. Grey points out that the rules are written down, and Ana's response is to tell him that she doesn't want rules. She doesn't particularly mind being spanked with his hand, though. Grey tells her that he wants to start again with vanilla, and then maybe work their way up to some kinky stuff once they're feeling secure.

Y'know, if he'd done this in the beginning, this book would be so much better.

Oh, and there would be no punishments or rules in this. Grey gives her a declaration of love that reads like some emo-esque poetry. Ana admits that she wants to please him, but it's hard to do so. Grey says that she pleases him all the time, but Ana points out he's often closed off and remote, intimidating, his mood swings like a compass near a magnet and she can't touch him. But, she does accept his proposal.

Grey says that touching is a hard limit for him, and finally tells her why: one of his mother's pimps used to hurt him, hence the burn scars on his chest. His mother wasn't abusive, but she was neglectful, and she didn't protect her son from her pimp. When she killed herself, it took four days for someone to find them.

Oh, Jesus... as dark backstories go, that's a pretty damn effective one. Poor kid.

Ana wakes up in Seattle. Grey's dropping her at her place 'cause she has to work. Grey refuses to fuck her unless she tells him everything she wants- both for communication purposes and so there are no more screwups like last time.

Wow, we're actually doing things right in this book. Was James feeling all right?

They arrange to pick Ana up after drinks the next day, and Grey gives her a gift. When she opens it inside, she finds her laptop, the BlackBerry, and an iPad. She looks through it and finds e-books and music- in particular, the entire British library and a very moving playlist he made for her.

Oh, and her favourite band is Snow Patrol. Fucking soft-rock bullshit.

Ana sends Grey an email thanking him profusely for the iPad. Grey sends her a reply saying thanks, and telling her to go to sleep.

Oh, and he included 'Every Breath You Take' as a joke. He's got a twisted sense of humour, but at least he doesn't think that song is romantic. There's a special place in hell for people who think that song is romantic.

Ana floats off to sleep wondering if she should make a playlist for him, and the chapter ends.

That was Chapter Two. I'm actually really liking this so far.
