OK. Before I begin, I will emphasise that this is not 'Why 'Born This Way' Sucks'. This is 'Why I Don't Like 'Born This Way'. Please don't comment and scream about how wrong I am and how awesome Gaga is, this is my personal reasons.
Now, on to the review.
It should be noted that since this is a track-by-track review of what I don't like, I'll be leaving out the songs I do like.
Anyway.
Track One: Marry The Night
Boring, repetitive, and pointless. Yes, Gaga, I fully acknowledge that you intend to marry the night. So what? It's not catchy, it's not entertaining, it's just boring. It goes on and on with no end in sight, repeating endlessly without any variation. Honestly, I think 'Government Hooker' would have been a much better intro track.
Track Two: Born This Way
This is major YMMV, but here's the thing. There's nothing in 'Born This Way' that appeals to me. I am bisexual, yes, but I haven't been oppressed because of it and while I haven't fully come out, that's for my own reasons. I may have been baptized a Protestant, but I don't identify with any Catholic/Christian religion- and so, that aspect of the song doesn't appeal to me. I don't need, in essence, to be reassured that it's OK to be bi- and so, this song has nothing for me. It's catchy, I'll give it that, but it's not enough to redeem it- and the line 'God makes no mistakes' really, really pisses me off. So, Gaga, God wanted me to have mental disorders and personal identity crises? Really? And what about trans* people?
Track Five: Americano
OK, this isn't bad, it's just boring. I got bored about half way in. Nothing in the song catches my attention or interests me- it's just crap.
Track Six: Hair
Like 'Born This Way', I can't relate to this song. My personal identity was never stifled by my parents, unless you count my mother refusing to let me dye my hair black or purple or get my ears pierced (decisions I thank her for regularly) and as a result, I just get nothing out of this song.
Track Nine: Black Jesus/Amen Fashion
Hey, Gaga, you know something? There's these things called 'other religions'. And there are millions of people who are part of them who probably won't appreciate being informed that 'Jesus is the new black'. I'm one of them. In essence, since I don't give a fuck about Jesus or fashion, this track does fuck all for me. And it needs to be a bit faster and with a better drum beat.
Track Ten: Bad Kids
Boring, repetitive, does nothing for me, doesn't appeal to me.
Track Eleven: Fashion Of His Love
Bor-ring. Also, it's a clone of 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' by Whitney Houston. I can't have been the only person who noticed this.
Track Twelve: Highway Unicorn (Road To Love)
Guess. Go on, guess. OK, the chorus is shite as well, and the whole thing is so hammy I'm surprised there's been no news reports of entire pig farms going missing.
Track Fourteen: Electric Chapel
It's... OK. I guess. It's kind of like Americano, but slightly worse in that this could be a song I really liked. It isn't.
Track Fifteen: The Queen
It's boring, and the chorus sounds like a combination of 'The Edge of Glory' and Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You'.
OK, now I'm going to do the things I liked about Born This Way.
