Uh, hi. OK, here's the absolutely amazing mixes and art done for the fic (masterpost is here). I'd like to thank [livejournal.com profile] obnoxiousamy, [livejournal.com profile] trulyamindlost and [livejournal.com profile] keevacaereni for their wonderful, fantastic work, it's just amazing. ^_^

First off, Amy's art:

Artist's notes:

1. For the scene: "Paw lets go of the handle and steps back, shaking. He stared down at his hands, unable to grasp what's happening. Caine's legs fold, and he hits the ground. He wraps his hands around the knife and pulls. It takes him a while as the silver saps his strength, but the blade emerges from his chest, dark red blood spraying everywhere. Drops hit Paw's face, and he stumbles backwards, clawing at his face, leaving gashes from his long, uncut nails."

I'm not very well versed in the Denny's Court AU -- like, at all -- and as the fic didn't give a description of what Paw was wearing, I just went with his normal outfit. Apologies if it came out wrong!

And now, Amy's other art:

astraaurora2
Artist's notes:

2. For the scene: "The Overqueen of the USA was draped over an ancient throne, a beautiful piece that had been ornately carved and carefully padded. She wore jeans, leather boots and a plain blue shirt, a costume that stood out among the fantastic and elaborate costumes the others wore. She looked human, an anomaly among the beautiful, alien creatures surrounding her, with long, plain red hair and almost normal features. Her eyes, however, changed colour by the second, flashing through shades and hues into colours most people had never seen before. It wasn't a known and accepted look, but Tara made it a rule to never go with tradition."

The symbols in the throne stand for fairies (the seven-pointed star), truth (the three symbols over the star) and protection (the swans and the arrows). The symbol designs were taken fromhttp://www.realfairies.net/fairy-magic.html and http://www.realfairies.net/fairies-magic-amulet.html.

Keeva's mix can be found here, and it rocks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4l20lPfq0Q&list=PLjQC5lT2SAjlGWj49GD051yGUAeV8NyXU

Tracklist:

1. Paw - Orchestra, by The Servant
'Paw felt his fists clench as he fought his inner wolf, fought the urge to knock the newcomer to the ground and rip her throat out.'

2. Roses -Black Magic Woman, by Santana
'In the middle of the target sat Roses, focused on the gleaming silver ball levitating above her hands, silver light flowing through the wall and into its depths.'

3. Todd- In the Shadows, by Rasmus
'Todd held up a hand, closed his eyes and focused. Around them, the shadows came to life, flying together and forming a huge, dark mass that hovered in mid-air.'

4. Lupa - Wolf, by First Aid Kit
'Paw and Roses watched as a tall young woman with red hair and a worn black jacket emerged, her hands trembling as she shoved the door shut.'

5. Caine's Death - One More Soul to the Call, by Akira Yamaoka feat. Mary Elizabeth McGlynn
'There’s a sound, a thud that sends chills up his spine, and both men look down, to where the handle of the silver knife sticks out of Caine’s chest.
Paw lets go of the handle and steps back, shaking. He stares down at his hands, unable to grasp what’s happening.'

6. The Club - Thriller, by Michael Jackson
'It was business as usual at the Shadow. The club was packed to the brim with sweaty, uncivilised patrons who constantly redefined ‘rowdy’ while drinking far too much alcohol and ‘dancing’.'

7. Faerie - Faerie's Aire and Death Waltz, by John Stump
'The Court was a scene of falsehood and marvels. The air was filled with the sweet scents of jasmine and rose, a strong, heady scent that fogged the mind. If one listened, one could almost hear the sound of tiny bells- almost, but not quite.
The air seemed to shimmer, light refracting off nothing, colours gleaming on clear walls, all to confuse and befuddle lesser minds. One who did not know what to expect would be entranced within minutes.'

8. They Are Coming-爪の砂(Tsume no Suna), by Yōko Kanno
'Finally, she spoke. “They’re coming.”
“Who is?” he asked.
“Tara. Nash. Her inner circle.”
Paw froze.'

9. Transformation-Tristan, by Patrick Wolf
'As his clothes came off, the moonlight touched his skin, and the itching became so unbearable that he snarled, feeling his teeth ache as they lengthened and his fingers curling into claws.
As soon as he was nude, he shifted, feeling his body bend and crack as it changed.
For a few seconds, the world seemed alien and incoherent, and then his vision cleared.'

10. Main Theme- Black, by Kari Kimmel

Finally, [livejournal.com profile] trulyamindlost's mix:

1. The Song of Hope – Arwen, from The Lord of the Rings musical
Wandering the empty road,
In twilight's silver shade,
Following the hidden paths
Lonely and afraid.

“…he took another breath and catalogued the scents automatically. Young, female, unfamiliar, tired, scared, hadn’t been turned by anyone he knew, was maybe a day past being turned…”
(Upon first meeting Lupa, this was the first song that came to mind. It seemed like the kind of song she would need in her current state of “lonely and afraid”. Calm, gentle, ethereal, and soothing.)

2. The Killing Type – Amanda Palmer and the Grand Theft Orchestra
i’m not the killing type
i’m not the killing type
i’m not i’m not
i’m not the killing type i’m not

i just can’t explain how good it feels
i just can’t describe ibe ibe ibe
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE

There’s a sound, a thud that sends chills up his spine, and both men look down, to where the handle of the silver knife sticks out of Caine’s chest. Paw lets go of the handle and steps back, shaking. He stares down at his hands, unable to grasp what’s happening.”
(Paw seems in shock and disbelief after he’s killed Caine, as though he didn’t completely want to do it. He’s not the killing type.)

3. Title Music from A Clockwork Orange (from Henry Purcell’s Music for the Funeral of Queen Mary) – Wendy Carlos
(instrumental)
“The Overqueen of the USA was draped over an ancient throne, a beautiful piece that had been ornately carved and carefully padded. She wore jeans, leather boots and a plain blue shirt, a costume that stood out among the fantastic and elaborate costumes the others wore. She looked human, an anomaly among the beautiful, alien, creatures surrounding her, with long, plain red hair and almost normal features. Her eyes, however, changed colour by the second, flashing through shades and hues into colours most people had never seen before. It wasn’t a known and accepted look, but Tara made it a rule to never go with tradition.”
(Overqueen Tara needed her own song. Something regal, forboding, and otherworldly.)

4. The Electrician – The Walker Brothers (no, not Doug and Rob, you sillies)
When lights
Go low
There's no help
No
He's
Drilling through
The spiritus sanctus
Tonight

“His hair was long, brown and in a ponytail, his beard was meticulously trimmed, and in his hand he held a sledgehammer with a scratched handle as though it was a hairbrush. His eyes, though… They were the eyes of someone no longer there, the eyes of a person who had died, but their body was still living. He was smiling, a manic grin that looked as though it had been stapled onto his face, and his eyes made the smile a million times worse.”
(Nash also needed his own song. Because he’s about to torture a fucker. And this song sounded twisted enough for torturing a fucker.)

5. Truce – The Dresden Dolls
And if we should meet through some misunderstanding
I'll be very sweet, very patient and forgiving
Now get off my side of the state

“’But… what if they come after us?’ ‘They’re not,’ Paw reassured her. ‘Tara knows well that if she invades our world, everyone will team up to take her out, and she can’t withstand all of us. All we have to do is not do anything that could count as provocation, and we’re good.’”
(It seemed to me that Paw and Tara must have negotiated some kind of mutual agreement through their animosity – territories that are okay and forbidden and such. At least, that’s the impression I got.)

6. Digital Versicolor – Glass Candy
This is the brilliance of white light
White light

Its denizens danced to the song continually blasted over the speakers, a long, droning techno tune with a thumping beat. They moved in unison, their movements odd and jerking, like puppets on strings.”
(If there is a club scene, there should be a club song. Not dubstep, though. This one seemed repetitive and strange enough for the fic.)

7. Come Scientist Destroy – Underworld (from National Theatre’s Frankenstein)
(instrumental)
(There’s not really a concrete quote I have for this song choice. It more represents the entire scene where Paw is fighting the urge to shift, and then Todd and Roses come in to…distract him…in sexy ways. Just this building and building until there’s a kind of explosion of sounds, and then just hearts pounding.)

8. Incubator – Underworld (from National Theatre’s Frankenstein)
(instrumental)
As his clothes came off, the moonlight touched his skin, and the itching became so unbearable that he snarled, feeling his teeth ache as they lengthened and his fingers curling into claws. As soon as he was nude, he shifted, feeling his body bend and crack as it changed. For a few seconds, the world seemed alien and incoherent, and then his vision cleared.”
(Actually shifting into a werewolf. I imagine focusing on one’s heartbeat, and the electrical shocks representing any strange jolts or sensations shifting may feel like. And the slightly alien sounds near the end representing Paw adjusting to world as a wolf.)

9. Cirque dans la rue – Plain White T’s
I wanna make friends with the freaks
I wanna throw down with the clowns that I meet
I wanna have a party in the middle of the street

Invite all the carnies and the crazy acrobats
And bearded ladies and the fire-breathers
All the people just like me

(Again, not a concrete quote for this, but the entire Denny’s Court au feels like this to me. Werewolves, vampires, fae, sirens…it’s a supernatural circus of sorts.)

10. Wolf Suite Pt. 1 – Danny Elfman (from The Wolfman)
(instrumental)
(This song represents the overall feeling I got from the fic. Dark, strange, intense, building, and ending at one HELL of a cliffhanger. …and, of course, werewolves.)
